today's bio olympiad training was quite a deprived one. due to chinese common test, we only attended 1/4 of the session, which is half an hour. oh and introducing...
Hong Guang's Theory of Growth There is a limit to the growth of every individual, and the height limit of
Homo sapiens sapiens is 3m. The presence of a limiting reagent causes the individual to be unable to undergo exponential growth to reach the ideal height of 3m. As such, different limiting reagents for different individuals cause them to reach different heights at the end of their lives.
During the lifespan of individuals, catalysts may be added to speed up the rate of reaction, the most commonly known catalyst is puberty. This provides an alternative pathway for the reaction with a lower activation energy, increasing the number of effective collisions, increasing the rate of reaction. The result is a phenomenon commonly known as
growth spurt.
However, this theory also has its limitations, for one, it has not been tested. Neither has it been proven to be through, but further investigations will be carried out in order to back up the hypotheses.
